The soundboard, sides, and back of the CPX1200 have been formed from single, solid slices of wood which, compared to laminated wood, shapes a far richer sonic character to result in optimal resonance, increased volume and excellent sustain. Notes are given long, sparkling tails and a full and open tone which is coloured in by the warmth of the rosewood back and sides, and the bright, full mids of the spruce soundboard.

Supported by the Studio Response Technology (SRT) of Yamaha’s advanced modelling preamp, the electronics section of this model doesn't just amplify the sound of an integrated pickup, but treats the sound with highly accurate and highly natural sounding emulations of professional studio microphones. This captures the acoustic resonance, the dynamics, and general sonic atmosphere of the guitar to breathtaking effect.

The System62 Preamp with In-Depth Tone Control

The high-grade microphone simulations are selected and sculpted using the System62 preamp control panel which provides the pick of a virtual Neumann U67, Neumann KM56, or a Royer R-122. Once selected, the 'microphone' position can be adjusted using the Focus/Wide control; the Blend pot can be tweaked to mix and balance the output of the built-in piezo pickup and the microphone simulation, and the natural acoustic sound of the guitar can be dialled in using the Resonance pot. The handy Auto Feedback Reduction, or A.F.R., function is a life-saver during shows, while the in-depth three-band equalizer and volume controls are used to polish off the tone. Finished with a digital tuner complete with clear LED display, this stunning model covers every base and does it in elegant style.
